Director & Founder
At the tender young age of 4, Anabelle realized her passion for dance and ballet. During her childhood years, she was ever ready to be consumed by the disciplined lifestyle of ballet. In order to become proficient at ballet, one must be extremely dedicated to the art & diligence of practice and rehearsal time. She followed this through with determination.
Throughout her years of study, the dream to teach the beauty of ballet was culminating within her mind, body and soul. Her devotion to the art of ballet and commitment to her students is the foundation of the very heart of Bella Academy.
Anabelle can't remember a time when she wasn't fueled by this focus for her three loves: teaching, children and Ballet. She feels blessed to be able to have a thriving career made up of all three!
I was born to an Indian father and Australian mother and I am fourth amongst eight siblings. I started dancing from the age of 4 and used to love listening to classical music and watching ballets such as swan lake. That’s when my family realized I had an interest for ballet.
Due to a serious lack of quality ballet education in India at that time, I pursued further studies internationally and continue to do so till date.
I studied the Royal Academy of Dance (London) syllabus and completed all examinations with Distinction.
I come from a large family and it was difficult for my parents to afford sending me to ballet. In spite of many obstacles I always found ways to continue my training, I knew I had the discipline and determination to put in the hard work. Ballet gave me confidence and happiness.
Throughout my years of study it was always my dream to teach ballet. At the age of 23 I qualified with the Royal Academy of Dance in London and at the age of 27 with American Ballet Theatre in New York. I started teaching in my living room in Mumbai with a small group of 30 students in the year 2009 when I was 20 years old.
Bella Academy has now grown exponentially and across two centres in South Mumbai and looking to expand to other areas and cities.
